A deep rooted passion for design and a flair for aesthetics is where it all started from- a fairly significant part of my life.
Before embarking upon the journey of Fashion Accessories, my passion led me to join the National Institute of Fashion Technology, New Delhi to polish my understanding of the area. In spite of marital and family obligations at that time, I made sure these important facets of my life never took a back-seat while I went on to pursue my dreams and desires.
The birth of Fashion Accessories was initiated back in 2000.
With the turn of the millennium, came new aspirations and directions which eventually brought me and a friend to start our own little line of textiles via building our set up in a garage.
With endless working hours, spinning like a top around the city for sourcing materials that would shape our collections; From being designers to implementers, Fashion Accessories’ very first line of products were a range of cotton bags, belts and highly embellished accessories for the UK & European Market.
To our delight, the collection was appreciated thoroughly by our very first clients which gave us the confidence to continue. By this time, my partner, due to some personal commitments had to quit partnership which left me all by myself, without any funding, to continue the journey.
The next 2 years (2000-2002) went like a whirl wind. Single handedly I became the one- all of my small start up back then. It was me designing, sitting with my staff for sampling, sourcing, and the works! Now that I look back, I feel those years were the most crucial for my individual growth and formed a rock solid foundation for the company’s work ethics ‘Sincerity & Fair Practice’ which stands true today amongst its 1800 employees.
While the business picked up, I realized very soon, it was time for expansion, and with it came Anoop Thatai, the King of Export and my husband as as investor who not only invested in the company but also my belief system. Today, we both stand as equal stake holders of the company. This also, added to our existing client portfolio and brought in names that we today, feel proud to be associated with as manufacturing partners.
2003, marked a turning point for the company and me as it brought in the opportunity to design a home furnishings line for a designer who was just starting off back then.
While those pillows & duvets did wonderfully well in the market, we decided on shifting our focus from accessories to furnishings with which the company made a shift to a bigger facility. From then, bags became pillows and pillows exploded into beddings and so on so forth.
Fashion Accessories hasn’t looked back since.
While Fashion Accessories- now FA Home continues to write its journey, the crux of the growth lies in the fact that how the grit, passion and determination which set base for the beginnings of the company continued through each one who joined us as a team or a part of the workforce and now resonates within each of the 1800 people who form of part of the FA Family.
